Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by abnormal carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, resulting from underlying insulin resistance, which leads to various pathological manifestations. Inflammation associated with obesity is a risk factor linked to insulin resistance and is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and T2DM [1].
