Malaria remains a public health problem in many countries, including Colombia. In 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported 263 million cases of malaria worldwide [1]. In Colombia, by 2024, 123,740 cases were reported, leaving the country far from the WHO's goal of zero malaria [2].
Mammea americana is a tree from the Calophyllaceae family, which is used in Colombian ethnobotanical medicine to treat malaria [3]. There is not enough scientific evidence on the antimalarial activity of this species, therefore, the objective of this research was to determine the antimalarial activity of M. americana and its phytochemical profile.
