Cancer is a leading cause of death and a serious impediment to increasing life expectancy worldwide, with breast, prostate, stomach, lung, and uterine cancers being the most common in terms of incidence and mortality. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify novel molecules for potential chemotherapeutic treatment of epidemiologically relevant cancers. We determined the cytotoxic activity of chemically characterized alkaloid fractions from ten introduced, native, and endemic Amaryllidaceae species in Colombia against gastric, lung, breast, prostate, and uterine cancer cell lines.
