Hedychium coronarium, commonly called butterfly ginger, is an Asian plant classified as invasive in South America, with particular attention in Colombia [1-2]. Its rhizomes contain essential oils (EO) rich in monoterpenes such as eucalyptol, β-pinene, α-pinene, and α-terpineol. These components have relevant biological properties, such as antimicrobial, larvicidal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and repellent activities [3].
