Abstract

This study evaluated the ethanolic extract of Jacaranda caucana (gualanday) leaves, identifying volatile and non-volatile compounds, including hydroquinone and a new terpenoid.   Its high antioxidant capacity was highlighted, with free radical inhibition indices of 96.6% (DPPH) and 95.6% (ABTS), equivalent to mg/L of ascorbic acid and Trolox, respectively.
