Author Guidelines

Manuscripts can be written in Spanish or in English, in both cases with title and abstract in both languages. At the moment the manuscripts can be received prepared in Microsoft Word 2004 (Win/Mac) or Apple Works, in double-spaced and in font “Times new Roman 12. It is recommended to use the template “Rev Prod Nat.dotx”, and the style RevProdNat.ens”, which can be downloaded and placed in the folders “Templates” and “Styles”, respectively, of software  EndNote X or EndNote 20. These will facilitate the preparation of the manuscript and the handling of the appointments and bibliographical references, the tables and the figures.

The template is divided into four sections containing the following parts:

  • Title in Spanish and English (If writing in Portuguese, the title must be in Portuguese and English)
  • Authors' names, with the first name in lowercase and the last name in uppercase
  • Affiliation (The institution to which they are affiliated)
  • Corresponding author information
  • Summary, keywords, and abstract, keywords
  • Body of the manuscript: It should follow the IMRAD structure (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion). The only difference is the change of Methods by Experimental Section. Acknowledgements are included at the end.
  • References, Figures, and Tables

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, URLs or DOI for the references have been provided.

By submitting an article to the "Revista Productos Naturales (ISSN 1916-2413)", the authors agree to the following terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0):

  1. Copyright: The authors retain the copyright and grant the journal "Productos Naturales" the right of first publication of the article, which will simultaneously be subject to the Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the authorship of the work and the initial publication in this journal.
  2. Non-Exclusive Distribution: The authors may establish additional agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the article published in the journal (e.g., deposit it in an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authorship Recognition: Authors are required to acknowledge the authorship of the work and the initial publication in the journal "Productos Naturales" in any subsequent use of the article.
