Piper auritum is an aromatic plant whose natural habitat is tropical Mesoamerica. This plant can also be found in various regions of Colombia. Its aerial parts have been used in traditional medicine for diseases of the digestive system, skin, and tumors. In the departments of Antioquia and Chocó, the leaves are ground to make a poultice used to treat snake bites. This plant can become abundant in humid tropical forests and, in some cases, can become an invasive species [1], [2].
