PP51 Deep eutectic solvent-based green extraction for chitosan obtained from shrimp exoskeleton

Abstract

The characterization of two types of DES based on choline chloride with lactic acid and another with oxalic acid was carried out, and the extraction efficiency of the product of interest was compared using the two methodologies (conventional, DES) and its quality in terms of degree of deacetylation (%DA), taking a commercial chitosan as a reference. With the results, it can be concluded that an acceptable value was obtained, taking into account that the chitosan must have at least 60% DA. In addition, a better percentage yield was obtained with the second methodology.
