PO21 Effect of the flavonoid chrysin on behavioral hopelessness in a Wistar rat model of surgical menopause

Abstract

Forty-two rats 12 weeks post-ovariectomy were enrolled in six groups. One group received vehicle; four groups received chrysin (doses: 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 mg/kg), and another received 2.5 mg/kg of chlorimipramine. Treatments were administered for 14 days; behavioral tests were performed one hour after the last administration. In the open field test, treatment with 4 mg/kg of chrysin and chlorimipramine decreased the number of square crossings and increased vertical behavior. In the swimming test, they significantly increased the latency to immobility and decreased the immobility time.
